Key Organics - your trusted integrated services partner to solve your challenging discovery problems

The Integrated Approach
Key Organics has always provided exceptional quality Bionet chemistry products and KOCAS chemistry services. Key Organics also offers the same reliability and competence in an integrated services format for all drug discovery needs. This integrated approach encompasses biological services and computational chemistry requirements necessary for a complete drug discovery platform.

Key Organics Products and Services Easy Reference Chart

Chemistry Synthesis Service
Contract or Full Time Equivalent (FTE) chemistry support offers the benefit of dedicated chemists focused solely on one client's interests for short or long-term projects as required. This service can also include any part of the integrated services business model Key Organics offers, such as cheminformatics support, biology screening and cGMP production. In addition Key Organics offers the KOSYNergi FTE model for cost sensitive library production/building block synthesis. See our easy reference chart for a full layout of all Key Organics current offerings.

KOCAS chemists, based in the UK, specialise in difficult and challenging chemistry to exceptionally high standards. Key Organics' record of success is second to none, often delivering where other companies have previously failed. Intellectual property (IP) generated within an FTE becomes the property of the client, many projects having created highly valuable IP leading downstream to patents and commercial products. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Tennants Group, Key Organics has the financial strength to remain a sustainable, long-term and reliable partner to meet all your chemistry needs. Please contact us for further details.

Flexibility of Service
FTE KOCAS team members are selected for the appropriateness of their skills and experience in relation to the project, being proactive, flexible and dedicated to a client's changing needs. They provide high quality chemistry, offering novel synthesis solutions whilst communicating effectively according to the requirements and wishes of the client. Contract/Full-Time Equivalent(FTE) models are aimed at more research-based projects whereas Custom Synthesis projects are suitable for discreet projects and single compounds.

Examples of projects are:
• Hit to Lead work (small to medium sized library synthesis) with optional
  cheminformatics support
• Lead Optimisation (for selectivity, receptor binding, ADMET and pharmacokinetic
  properties) with optional cheminformatics support
• Asymmetric synthesis and optical resolution
• Microwave chemistry
• Patent exemplification work (patent protection and patent busting)
• Process development, scale-up and cGMP (mg→g→kgs)
• cGMP synthesis and scale-up

Biology/Screening Service
Key Organics offers a wide range of biology/screening services to assist in the identification of lead compounds in any therapeutic area. These services provide solutions to identify early stage drug candidates in a fast and cost effective process eliminating compounds that are likely to fail in the later stages.

Key Organics can arrange for assay development and implementation of the assays into automated screening processes with dramatically lower consumption of biological targets and chemical compounds. The follow up confirmation/selectivity profiling service will significantly increase the efficiency in the process of identifying the lead compounds. Combined with in vitro toxicology tests and SAR study, Key Organics' services will shorten the time for preclinical discovery in a cost effective way.

Key Capabilities:
• Assay development: providing initial assay development and assay validation
• High Throughput Screening: automated miniaturized assay platform, by using our
existing 500+ assays or customers’ assays. The screening can be carried out by using
Key Organics’ Bionet library and/or customers’ libraries
• Selectivity profiling: analyze the selectivity and potency of the lead compounds with 500+
  drug targets
• In vitro CYP450 inhibition assays using microsomes
• In vitro biochemical hERG assays to predict the compounds safety
• Cell based toxicity evaluations by detecting cell proliferation and apoptosis
• Protein/expression evaluations by detecting protein expression or post-translational
modifications after cells treated with chemicals

KOCAS Computational Chemistry
As part of its integrated chemistry services, Key Organics offers a broad range of key cheminformatics tools to support and accelerate custom drug discovery projects, ranging from knowledge mining for IP score optimisation, lead generation and hit-to-lead optimisation to library design and database management.

In the course of computational drug design, researchers finds themselves tasked with solving a complex series of difficult problems including: efficacy, activity, toxicity, bioavailability and intellectual property. With the total drug development process costing an enormous amount of money, drug design chemists can be under incredible pressure to produce results. Key Organics’ flexible approach consists of a synergistic collaboration between computational chemists, biologists and medicinal chemists, tailored to meet our clients’ bespoke requirements for novelty, activity and quality.

Key Capabilities:
• Unique computational technologies for use in both structure-based design and ligand-
  based approaches
• Design of lead-like libraries, focusing on novelty and diversity
• Lead generation through virtual high throughput screening or fragment-based virtual
screening, utilizing cutting-edge quantum mechanical calculations
• Hit to lead optimisation (for selectivity, receptor binding, ADMET and pharmacokinetic
  properties)

Confidentiality
Key Organics' clients range from biotechs, start-ups, virtual companies to major multinationals in medicinal chemistry, agrochemistry, petrochemistry and niche technologies. All have one thing in common - the need for absolute discretion and total confidentiality. Having provided outsourcing chemistry solutions for over 23 years, Key Organics has a proven track record of working in complete confidence under stringent non-disclosure agreements (testimonials).
